Asarial’s campaign

Leadnow

Dear Asarial,

What do you care about — and what would you like to change in your community?

It was a question we asked ourselves when we launched Leadnow ten years ago. We found that there were an infinite number of things we would like to change, and even more questions that we didn’t have the answers to.

It’s one of the reasons we launched you.leadnow.ca — our citizen-led petition starter platform — to allow as many people as possible to be able to raise issues, local and national, and change our society for the better.

It may sound grandiose — but it’s been proven, time and again, that it only takes one voice to make a difference.

So I’ve got to ask, Asarial, is there something you want to see changed in your community, city, or even across the country?

Have you seen a news story that’s caught your attention, or something you want to change? It could be front page news in your local community or even something you saw on Facebook. By spending just a few minutes setting up a petition, you could start something incredible.

Some of our biggest and most successful campaigns have been started by our members. They saw something in the news or experienced something that inspired them to start a petition on our member-based petition platform — www.you.leadnow.ca. Here are just a few from the past few months:

  • Katrina started a petition calling on the B.C. Minister of Education to stop fossil fuel promotion in schools. Her petition caught the public’s attention, and only two months later industry-funded curriculum was banned from BC classrooms!
  • Andrew started a petition calling on Toronto City Council to rename Dundas Street — named after a champion of the slave trade. Andrew’s petition caught the attention of Toronto City Council, which voted to rename Dundas street once and for all.
  • Isabella started a campaign calling on the Ford government to double Ontario Disability Support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the petition has been read in the legislature, and MPPs have been forced to respond!

Sometimes an issue might seem too big, or complicated to tackle. But we know that change begins with one person taking the first step. All it takes is a click of a button!
